Over the last decade, there has been a significant increase in the efforts to better understand how education, and promotion of activity, can be used to improve target population health and decrease the risk of avoidable injury. As educators, advocates, and providers of care, physical therapists, and physical therapy assistants are in an excellent position to not only promote individual health but optimize community wellness. By understanding target populations, learning about community resources, and understanding the advantages of evidence-based health programming, you can partner with other community stakeholders to extend your professional reach in helping people age successfully.
