Prevention, health promotion, and wellness have been established as integral aspects of physical therapist practice, yet a significant number of physical therapists have yet to incorporate this aspect of care. As the majority of our society continues to be negatively impacted by noncommunicable diseases, integrating prevention and health promotion into every plan of care has become a necessity.
In this course, attendees will learn how to screen, assess, intervene, and who to refer to in order to address 5 health behaviors including physical activity, nutrition and weight management, sleep health, stress management and tobacco cessation. As a doctoring profession in the 21st century, it is imperative for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants to incorporate health promotion into every plan of care as well as create an interprofessional team in order to provide high-quality care. Join us for a course that will help you advance your physical therapy practice and contribute to improving the health of society.
1. Execute screening, assessing, intervening and referring for health behaviors including physical activity, nutrition/weight management, sleep health, stress management and tobacco cessation.
2. Implement collaborative practice with other professionals and community members to address the 5 health behaviors discussed.
3. Construct action items for implementation of prevention and health promotion strategies within your clinic or community.
