Summary
Thank you for joining us online for this required ethics coursework. As the profession of physical therapy grows and plays a larger role in the medical profession and the health of our communities, we need to become more equipped to recognize and correctly manage ethical situations we encounter. Our aim in this course is to provide a brief overview of ethics, discuss the purpose of and review content from important APTA documents related to ethics for the physical therapist and the physical therapist assistant, and to demonstrate how a model for ethical decision making can help the therapist to take the corrects steps when facing a variety of situations encountered in practice.

Course Objectives:
  • Define the Three Branches of Ethics
  • Integrate APTA's Core Values with the Code of Ethics
  • Apply the RIPS Model to a Case Scenario to Determine Ethical Behavior

This course fulfills the MN Board of PT requirement for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants for 2 credit hours of continuing education in Ethics.
